Joshua Tree National Park

“The Park,” as it’s known around here, is pure magic. Most guests at the Pioneertown Motel make at least one pass through Joshua Tree National Park during their stay. We recommend planning ahead and getting an early start. Whether you’re after a leisurely drive or a rigorous hike, The DEZ is a great stop for sandwiches and snacks before entering the park. We’ve said it once, but we’ll say it again, our favorite hikes are at the Pioneertown Mountains Preserve for those who prefer deep nature without the crowds.

Make a day of it

Joshua Tree National Park is open from 24 hours every day, but we recommend an early start. The Joshua Tree entrance is an easy 20 minute drive from the Pioneertown Motel. In high season, the line of cars waiting to enter can be significant; the NPS recommends using the Twentynine Palms entrance to avoid delays.
